Tribus Mixes: Armadillo

Tribus Mixes (pronounced Mi-Heys) armadillos are ever popular. The cooperative provides economic opportunity to Mixe descendants with a unique approach to training artists who then return to their native communities to work – preserving culture and family. Generally carved using Mexican cedar these pieces are a fun inventive style. They are very textured with little dollops of paint dots across the figure.
