The eye on the forehead is an allegory to the “third eye” that sees everything and in turn, is a Sikuli (eye of god). The Huichol call their God’s eyes, Sikuli, which means “the power to see and understand things unknown.”

Izzy Morales from Guanajuato is an amazing talent in traditional paper alebrijes and has developed a wild imaginative modern style all his own. He has been working with paper art since he was 6 years old. Now in his early thirties, he competes in national competitions with his award-winning work.
